SUMMARY:AI in a Moment of Transition: From Hype and Anxiety to Practical Use at UIC
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to invite you to an upcoming webinar designed to help you better understand and confidently engage with artificial intelligence (AI) in your daily work. Generative AI arrived quickly, loudly, and with a mix of excitement and concern. Led by Dr. Michael Bennett, Associate Vice Chancellor for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Strategy, this presentation traces how we got here, from the long history of computation to the post ChatGPT surge, then examines why institutions are now entering a period of disillusionment and recalibration. The session concludes with concrete demonstrations showing how academic professionals can productively and responsibly use AI tools as collaborators in writing, analysis, and planning, with an emphasis on judgment, context, and institutional responsibility. Whether you are new to AI or looking to expand your understanding, this webinar will provide accessible, hands-on insights you can start applying right away. Registration is required and closes at Noon on April 21. | Event post: https://apac.uic.edu/events?page_id=10153
