About
Danielle is the Director of the Math and Science Learning Center (MSLC) where she works with a talented staff team to provide a welcoming study environment, sense of community, and academic support for students across UIC. The MSLC has over 20,000 visits per year and employs a fantastic team of over 100 undergraduate students each semester. In collaboration with faculty across various departments, the MSLC coordinates a Peer Learning Assistant program to facilitate engaging learning experiences in introductory-level courses.
Danielle has over 18 years of experience increasing student access, persistence, and success in STEM higher education programs through her work as an instructor, professional development facilitator, and administrator. Before coming to UIC in 2018, she served in diverse roles at various institutions ranging from community-college faculty member, to grant project director and Dean of a STEM Center for Teaching and Learning. Danielle earned a Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, a M.S. in Developmental Biology from the University of Chicago, and B.S. in Biology from Fairfield University.
Dedicated to supporting professional advancement of colleagues and serving the broader UIC community, she has collaborated with faculty and staff on Student Success Innovation Fund and LAS Diversity Initiative Projects, served on the launch committee for the Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE), and has been a learning community facilitator for the CATE Inclusive Education Scholars Certificate Program. She started serving as an AP Representative to the Academic Senate in AY25-26 and looks forward to further supporting her colleagues as a member of APAC.
When she is not in the MSLC, you may find Danielle supporting athletes as a paratriathlon / triathlon coach or exploring a trail by bike somewhere!
