About
Barbara Gottesman has worked at UIC for the last decade. Earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees at UIC, she was thrilled to become an employee of the UIC system. Barbara recently stepped into a new position as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Projects with UIC's School of Law.
Barbara's interest in being involved at the campus level led her to attend an APAC Influencer meeting in February of 2020. During this meeting, she inquired about mentorship within UIC, leading to a five-year effort on creating a new mentorship initiative. After several years towards this effort, Barbara ran for an elected position with APAC. Since joining APAC, she has served on the Education & Engagement and Recruitment & Retention sub-committees, and serves as the Co-Chair of the Mentorship Initiative subcommittee. Her passion and belief in professional development can be seen in the APAC programs she has worked on over the past several years.
Barbara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Industrial Psychology, and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration. As an alumna of UIC, Barbara is thrilled to be back at her alma mater, working with all stakeholders, to help shape and inform programs, policies, and campus culture, and work towards the overarching mission, vision, and values of UIC. Barbara was recently nominated to serve as the Vice-Chair on APAC and is honored to hold this position.
