About
Barbara Gottesman has been part of the UIC community for over a decade, earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UIC before joining the university as an employee. She currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Projects at the UIC School of Law, where she leads efforts that advance institutional priorities through strategic planning, program development, and cross-campus collaboration.
Barbara’s commitment to university engagement began in 2020 when she attended her first APAC Influencer meeting, where her curiosity about mentorship opportunities sparked a five-year effort to develop a new campus-wide mentorship initiative. Since joining APAC, she has contributed to the Education & Engagement and Recruitment & Retention subcommittees and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Mentorship Initiative. Her dedication to professional growth and community building is reflected in the programs she has helped design and implement.
An alumna with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences (Industrial Psychology) and an M.P.H. in Health Policy and Administration, Barbara is proud to contribute to the university that shaped her academic and professional journey. She continues to collaborate with colleagues across campus to strengthen programs, shape policy, and uphold UIC’s mission, vision, and values. Barbara served as Vice-Chair of APAC last year and is honored to serve as Chair in this leadership role.
