About
Geoff Pearson has held the role of director of strategic initiatives in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research since 2023, after joining UIC in 2021 as the assistant to the vice chancellor. Over the course of his career, Geoff has managed strategy and project management in higher education, philanthropy and health care administration. Prior to UIC, Geoff worked at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as special assistant to the president and CEO. He served as chief of staff and secretary of the board of trustees at McDaniel College, a small liberal arts college in Westminster, MD. In that role, he served as vice-chair of the board professionals executive committee for the Association of Governing Boards, the national advocacy group for trustees of postsecondary institutions. Other positions include Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD and University of Texas at Austin. Geoff grew up in Texas and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from University of Texas-Pan American, a master’s degree in public administration and policy from American University and will soon complete a doctorate in higher education administration from Nova Southeastern University.
