SUAA
The State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) provides the framework for a unified message dedicated to preserving and protecting a strong public pension system, healthcare benefits, higher education, and the general well-being of its membership
SUAA advocates on behalf of all faculty and staff of public universities and community colleges – both retired and current employees – their spouses and survivors, who are participants and beneficiaries of the State Universities Retirement System. Learn more about the UIC SUAA Chapter on-line here.

UPPAC
Academic professionals on each University of Illinois campus (Chicago, Springfield, Urbana-Champaign) elect colleagues to represent them on their own campus advisory committees. The representatives of UPPAC are usually nominated from members of these professional advisory committees, such as APAC, based on individual bylaws. Individuals serve one year terms but can repeat terms.

SURSMAC
The State Universities Retirement System Member Advisory Committee (SURSMAC) is formed with representation from all community colleges and universities to advise the SURS Board of Trustees on retirement system matters. The State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) also holds a seat as a voting member.

Spring 2024 Senate Election Announcement
The Academic Professional Advisory Committee is responsible for conducting a nomination and election process for Academic Professional (AP) Representatives to the UIC Senate. Recently, the Senate has increased the allocation of AP Senate Representatives by six (6) seats, for a total of nine (9) representatives in all. APAC is making a call to all academic professional employees to consider self-nominations to be an AP Representative to the UIC Senate starting in 2025. Please review the responsibilities and nomination information below, and reach out to any member of APAC for additional information.
Nominating and Election Process
The nominating process involves completing a Nomination Form, including a personal statement, and the names and UIC email addresses of ten (10) endorsers who are APs of at least 50%. Completed Nomination Forms must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024. Using the electronic form found on the APAC website, candidates will be asked to submit an electronic signature on behalf of themselves and receive and submit electronic signatures of their endorsers.

Responsibilities of Senate AP Representative
APs who serve as Senate AP Representative do so in addition to their regular University-related duties. Senate AP Representatives are to attend the regular UIC Senate meetings and may also serve as AP Representative on UIC Senate committees.
