The Executive Subcommittee will be composed of elected APAC officers and will meet as needed to identify and discuss critical issues, to plan activities, and to report its activities to the full committee.

The Bylaws Subcommittee reviews the Bylaws and Standing Rules periodically to ensure that they are consistent with current 62 University and APAC policies, procedures, and operations.

Awards
The Awards Subcommittee, through the administration of the annual Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence Award (CAPE) and Rising Star Award, recognizes the demonstrated excellence of Academic Professionals, encourages their professional development, and indicates the institution’s high regard for the contributions of this key segment of the academic community.

Communication
The Communication Subcommittee will coordinate activities for the effective communication to the APAC constituency.

Education and Engagement
The Education and Engagement Subcommittee identifies opportunities and recommends programs and activities that build a spirit of community among academic professionals, and plans and hosts learning workshops of varying formats which contribute to the acquisition of skills and knowledge to foster academic professionals ‘career development and growth.

Grievances
Per HR Policy #1101, as part of the informal academic grievance process, an academic professional grievant may elect to refer their complaint to the Grievance Subcommittee for consideration.

Professional Development Awards Program
The Professional Development Awards Program Subcommittee is responsible for the solicitation, receipt and review of applications, notification of awardees, and disbursement of funds. Members also keep up-to-date criteria for evaluating applications, make announcements through P-Academy and on the APAC website.

Representation
The Representation Subcommittee
studies and addresses perceived
and systematic problems related to Human Resources policies 68 or other University functions, and especially those that disproportionately impact academic professionals.Chair: Michael Wesbecher (UPPAC)

Senate
Academic Professionals who have permanent appointments of 50% or more make up the electorate as per the University Statutes and are therefore eligible to be candidates to serve as a UIC Senate AP representative. Academic professionals who serve as Senate AP representatives do so in addition to their regular university duties. Senate AP representatives attend the regular UIC Senate meetings and also serve as AP representatives on Senate committees. Senate AP representatives also serve as members of APAC and are required to report to APAC at its monthly meetings.

Recruitment & Retention
The Recruitment & Retention Subcommittee shall monitor campus academic professional population and keep an active and updated list of all campus academic professionals. The Subcommittee shall plan and implement recruitment strategies to encourage academic professional membership participation in APAC events and activities. The Subcommittee shall also actively monitor current APAC member engagement with the intent to retain existing members. The Vice Chair shall chair this committee.
